Transit Rider Policy
The BATS Transportation System is here to serve you our community. We do have some rules to abide by as any other provider does. These rules apply to everyone who rides the BATS Transportation System.

1
Fares.
Each local one way ride is $1.00, a Round Trip with a call for return or pick up is $2.00. School Bus Passes are $30.00 and cover the rides for a child to and from school or after school activities for a calendar month. Senior Passes are $25.00 and only available to respite care seniors. Bus Tickets of $5.00 - $10.00 & $20.00 are also available to the public and can be purchased at the Buffalo Area Transit Office located in the Buffalo Senior Center. Please call 307-684-9551 with questions for more info.
2
Booking Rides.
BATS is very busy, we request that you plan ahead and book your ride 24 hours in advance. If this is not possible 2 hours is the reasonable limit to which we can find a window to book a ride. With appointment call backs and calls for return, people needing a Ride RIGHT NOW may not be able to ride right now as there is simply not a window available at that time. Please allow 2 hours. If you need a ride after 4:00 PM bookings for this time window must be in before 4:00 pm. 4:00 PM is the daily cut off for same day rides. As drivers come off shift, BATS has limited space available as this time window is small. Bookings after 4:00 pm can be made for the following day. Bookings can be made by calling the Buffalo Senior Center at 307-684-9551 or visiting www.wybats.com
3
Rider Conduct:
Please use respectful language. Acts of violence or threats toward drivers or other passengers will not be tolerated.

4
Ride Cancellations.
If you need to cancel your ride please give us at least 1 hour notice ahead of time to allow for another individual to reserve that window. No Call – No Show riders will be given 3 strikes and then a 30 day suspension of rides will be applied to your account. In the case of inclement weather you will receive an automated notification from Buffalo Area Transit System of Route closures. Closures will be reflected on our BATS live Window at www.wybats.com
5
Route and Ride Timing.
BATS Buses can arrive up to 5 minutes early or be as much as 15 minutes late. Many factors can play into this such as traffic / weather conditions due to construction or other variables. It is recommended that you are ready to ride 5 minutes early so our drivers can load and keep on schedule as many people are depending on us to serve them. If you are not ready and not coming out to the bus after 5 minutes of your pick up window is completed you will be marked as a no show and will have to re book your ride at a different time. Our drivers take pride in trying to get to everyone on time.
6
Seat belts.
Please make sure you are wearing your seat belt at all times while on the bus riding. If you require assistance with your seat belt ask your driver for assistance they will help you.
7
Grocery Bag Limit.
Due to the high volume of passengers going shopping and with multiple passengers on board the bus excessive loose grocery bags become a safety hazard! BATS is placing a strict limit of 5 grocery bags and a limit of 1 Cat Litter. PLEASE STICK TO THESE LIMITS.
8
Food & Drinks.
Food and drinks are prohibited on all BATS buses with the exception of bottled water. Food and Drinks can be spilled and cause major safety issues for our drivers and passengers. Please absolutely NO SMOKING or CHEWING TOBACCO on the Bus.

BATS Rider Policy: Traveling with Animals
We are committed to providing a safe and welcoming ride for everyone. Please review our animal policy:

Service Animals:
Service dogs are always welcome on BATS vehicles, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). These animals do not require advance notice or special equipment but must remain under the handler's control at all times, which may be via leash, harness, or voice command depending on the animal's training.
Pets:
Non-service dogs may be allowed on the bus if they are well-behaved and under control (on a leash or harness). Please notify us in advance if you plan to travel with a pet, so we can inform our drivers and ensure space.
Other Small Pets (Cats, Rabbits, etc.):
These pets must be transported in a secure, manageable crate or cage when riding.
Animals showing aggressive or disruptive behavior may be refused service or removed from the vehicle to maintain safety at the driver's discretion.

Thank you for riding with BATS. Your cooperation helps us serve the whole community with safe, dependable transportation.
